Hello!  My name is Rima Avellan and I am passionate about educating women in self-defense.   I am an NRA certified female instructor for firearm use, safety and defense in South Florida.  I also have years of experience competing and teaching in martial arts including, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, boxing, kickboxing.

What does this mean for you?
My goal is to educate and empower women with the knowledge and confidence required to defend themselves and their loved ones as necessary.

I am fortunate that in my line of work, I have the opportunity to witness the transformation of women who, while they out to learn how to shoot, in the process discover a confidence in themselves that improves all areas of their lives.  Whether you’re interested in competition, concealed carry, home defense, the safe storage of guns in the home, or you just want to get out of the house and try something new, please join us.

I am also the only NRA certified instructor in South Florida, teaching women’s only classes, to have years of experience in self defense, including:  Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, and weapons training - with the competition experiences to back it up.

What does this mean for you? My passion relies solely on training women to raise their confidence levels, to be safe, and to be ready to defend themselves or loved ones from any threat. My passion, and the reason I help lead the team at Miami Shooters Club, is to empower women to understand that they have the power to be in control of any situation.

My experience allows me the privilege, one that can only be picked up through years of teaching, of knowing when to be tough, when to be gentle, and how to understand you to motivate you, empower you, and make sure that you not only possess all the tools you need to defend yourself from any situations, BUT also, that you possess the confidence and frame of mind to stop situations from occurring to begin with.

Under my instruction, oversight, and watchful eye, I will show you how to load, unload, cock, decock, grip, aim, and fire your gun - and how to properly handle and store your firearm.  I will also show you how to care for and clean your gun.

Remember, the best way to help in any situation, is to stop the situation from becoming a problem. The following is out of your control:

• You cannot control if someone is sick and wants to hurt you, your children, family, loved ones, or friends
• You cannot cure every person in the world from deranged thoughts
• You cannot be there, indefinitely, to protect your loved ones at all time
• You cannot dissuade every attacker...

BUT the following IS UNDER YOUR CONTROL:

• YOU CAN be properly trained in the usage and safety of firearms
• YOU CAN own a firearm to protect you and your family, should the need arise
• YOU CAN teach the skills you learn to your family and friends to help them be better capable of defending themselves
• YOU CAN train to be MENTALLY and PHYSICALLY prepared for any perpetrator
• YOU CAN choose to NEVER BE A VICTIM
• YOU CAN begin this journey of self-reliance, independence, and possessing the ability to defend yourself and loved ones with just one Sunday and a few hours of your time.

I want to help you achieve this peace of mind safely - and the first step is with the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course.

I will take the NRA requirements to use a gun safely and help you understand the material via anecdotal examples, interactive learning, and making myself available for any questions, as well as providing options for further training for students that choose to take advantage of it. Aside from a very initial safe practice of guns inside of our academy, I will take you to a range and personally help you load your gun, shoot it, unload it, store it, and REPEAT the process as many times as it takes FOR YOU TO FEEL COMFORTABLE AND SECURE.

I will help you rely on YOURSELF, not your husband, boyfriend, significant other, loved one, friend, colleague, or anyone else.
